FAQs

  • My books are always open. View and book available flash, or submit a custom tattoo request here. I will only accept custom requests if I feel I am capable of creating a finished piece we are both happy with.

  • My hourly rate is the Missoula standard $200/hour. That being said, the more time I spend on a piece, the lower that rate becomes. I strive to make my work accessible, so am open to a range of budgets, as well as trades.

  • Yes, consultations are great and necessary in some situations. Submit a custom request as normal here and let me know in the notes that you’d like to meet up for a consultation.

  • Yes, when booking flash or custom, you’ll be asked to pay a $50 deposit to secure your appointment date and time. This deposit will go toward the cost of your tattoo. Your deposit will be forfeited in the case of a no-call/no-show.

  • Cash is the only form of payment accepted at tattoo appointments. There is no ATM on-site, so plan ahead. A quote will be provided beforehand.

  • Hydrate and eat a meal prior to your appointment. Feel free to bring snacks and a water bottle for longer sessions. If you are feeling sick, please reschedule through the booking page!

Shower the day of your appointment to ensure cleanliness. I cannot tattoo over scratches, wounds, irritations, bruises, or sunburns. Gently exfoliate and moisturize daily the week leading up to your appointment.

Avoid drinking alcohol or taking painkillers (or any anticoagulant) within 24 hours of your appointment. You must reschedule if you are going to be on antibiotics the week of your appointment.

Wear comfy, loose clothing, and avoid light colors – tattoo ink can get messy! If you’re unsure of what to wear for specific tattoo placements, just ask. You may also change into the appropriate clothing upon arrival.

Feel free to bring headphones, a book, or a nonintrusive craft project to keep you distracted. I also enjoy conversation if that’s your thing!

If you’d like to use numbing cream, apply as directed before your appointment. Do a test batch to make sure you’re not allergic. I like Recovery and Mad Rabbit numbing products. IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure you’re using a product with no more than 4% lidocaine! The FDA has issued a warning against certain brands. View here.

  • If bringing a friend would make you more comfortable, absolutely! You may bring 1 person to join you in the studio. Please make sure this person is supportive of your decisions.

  • I’m located at 742 S Higgins Avenue in Missoula, Montana (within Compass Barbershop). There is limited Compass customer parking in the back, and free street parking all around. Enter through Compass’s front door and I will come and get you from the waiting area.

  • I do not take walk-ins. You must make an appointment.

  • You can book a tattoo appointment up to three months out.

  • Initial care depends a little bit on the kind of bandage you receive. I use both depending on client preference and skin sensitivities.

If Saniderm (aka Second Skin) was applied during your appointment, leave it on for up to 3 days. Gently remove under running water and continue care as suggested below.

If a temporary bandage was applied during your appointment, remove and gently and wash it with warm water and mild soap after 3 hours. Don’t rebandage – let it breathe.

Wash your tattoo gently but thoroughly with an unscented soap twice a day for the next week. Be sure to rinse off all soap residue each time. Pat dry with a clean or disposable towel.

Apply a thin layer of Aquaphor or A&D Ointment 3 times a day for the next 3 days. Best after washing. After 3 days, use an unscented hand lotion like Lubriderm or Curel, until the skin returns to its pre-tattoo condition. If you begin to develop red bumps around the tattoo, that’s a sign of over-moisturizing.

Recovery brand soap and salve are available for purchase at the studio.

Stay out of sunlight and tanning booths until the tattoo is healed, at least 2 weeks.

Do not soak your tattoo in a tub, sauna, or jacuzzi or go swimming while your new tattoo is healing. Showers are fine.

Don’t rub or pick at the treated area while it is healing. Loss of color and/or infection could occur.

Extreme sun and exposure over the years can and will fade your tattoo. This can be minimized by using a strong sunscreen, at least SPF 30.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns along the way!

  • Yes, touch ups on tattoos I have done are always free. To schedule a touchup, put in a custom tattoo request with photos of your healed tattoo. Tips are appreciated but not expected.

  • I will accept cover up projects I feel I can accomplish in my style.

  • If you’d like to use numbing cream, apply as directed before your appointment. Do a test batch to make sure you’re not allergic. I like Recovery and Mad Rabbit numbing products. • I only accept returns/refunds in the case of products being damaged upon arrival, or if I sent you the wrong product.

  • Gift Cards can be spent on tattoos or products (in person or online). When booking an appointment, a $50 deposit will be required. This deposit will be reimbursed at your appointment. If more money is owed than is covered by your gift card, your deposit will contribute toward that total.
